Private Clinic

What does private individual treatment involve?
In contrast to treatment we provide through our research clinic, private individual treatment is available on an individual (one-to-one) basis with a fully qualified clinical psychologist. There is a focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which has been researched and found to be effective in the treatment of anxiety disorders.

How much does private treatment cost?
Due to recent government legislation, passed in November of 2006, mental health services are now subsidised by Medicare. This means that treatment costs are now significantly lower if you are eligible for Medicare. You can see one of our psychologists and after a rebate, you end up paying roughly a $50 gap amount.

What are my options with Medicare?
Talk to your GP for more detailed information about your eligibility for a Medicare rebate.
You will need to decide before coming in for your first session whether you would like to claim a rebate for your fees through Medicare or through your private health fund, if you have one. It is not possible to claim a rebate from both.
If claiming from Medicare, a referral letter from your GP or psychiatrist outlining a mental health plan will need to be brought to your initial consultation.

What do I do now?
Please contact the clinic on (02) 9850-8711 if you would like to express interest in private individual treatment, and we will arrange for a time to conduct a short intake with you over the phone to see if this is a beneficial option for you.
