Ageing Wisely Program

Ageing Wisely Program - What is it all about?
The Emotional Health Clinic now runs a new group program for the treatment of worry and low mood in older adults. The program is a 12-session program that will teach you skills to help manage worry and low mood.

Who is it for?

  • Do you get easily stressed out and nervous?
  • Do you feel down?
  • Do you not enjoy activities you used to take pleasure in?
  • Are you over the age of 60?

Worry and low mood can affect all areas of your life, whether at home, at work, or your relationships. You can participate if you are over the age of 60 and want help to manage these concerns.

How much does it cost?
Participants will be asked to pay reduced fees at assessment and treatment. These fees are $50 for assessment and $100 for pensioners/$200 for non-pensioners for treatment.

How do you get involved?
You can call (02) 9850-8711

What will happen then?
You will be contacted to conduct an intake assessment and collect your personal information. This intake assessment will check that the program is going to be suitable for you. If you are suitable you will then be asked to come to the clinic for an interview with a psychologist and you will be asked to complete some questionnaires. The interview and questionnaires are completely confidential. This assessment is so that we can learn about your worry and mood, and to make sure that our program is going to be helpful to you.

After this interview, if it is determined that you have sufficient worry and low mood to benefit from our program, you will be enrolled in the next group and you will be told of the commencement date.

The group runs for 2 hours a week for 12 weeks at the clinic. It is lead by intern psychologists, and you will receive a manual which outlines all the skills that you will learn through the program.
