Our Programs
Whether you are the parent of an anxious child or teenager or are seeking help for yourself, the Emotional Health Clinic offers a range of research and private programs to treat various types of anxiety. All of our programs are based on the latest, scientifically proven methods. Our programs also contribute to future research and improved treatments for anxiety sufferers. Below is a list of current programs on offer:
Programs for Children and Adolescents
Creating Confident Kids - A private program for parents of children 2-6 who may be shy, lack confidence or show early signs of anxiety. It can also support parents struggling with their children’s emotional behaviour, teaching them to respond in the best way for their kids. It teaches parents practical strategies to get through the toddler years and build on their child’s strengths.
Cool Little Kids Program - This program is aimed at targeting signs of anxiety in young children between the ages of 3-5. It involves the participation of both children and parents, teaching kids social skills and giving parents practical strategies.
Cool Kids Program - Our highly successful Cool Kids Program has been running for over a decade. A family based program open to children and teenagers from 7-17, Cool Kids utilises CBT and provides children with skills and strategies to help them manage their anxiety in a variety of settings.
It has been translated into other languages, is internationally recognised and is run regularly by organizations both overseas and in Australia.
Child Anxiety Rural Outreach Program - This program is open to primary school children 8 years and older who live outside of capital cities. It allows children who live in rural and regional Australia to access our assessment and treatment services without needing to travel from home. It is based on the Cool Kids Program and the successful book Helping Your Anxious Child.
Child Traumatic Stress Program - This research program specifically works with children 7-17 years of age who have experienced a recent traumatic and stressful event. It’s interventions are aimed at reducing recurrent experiences of the trauma and is only suitable for those who have experienced a one-off traumatic event.
Study Without Stress Program - This program is run privately through the clinic and is aimed at Year 10-12 students experiencing specific study and exam stress. The course looks at stress, anxiety, perfectionism and procrastination and the skills and strategies to challenge and overcome them.
Programs for Adults
Social Phobia Program - This 15 week program is for adults experiencing social anxiety - a fear of being embarrassed or humiliated in front of others. This can include adults who are chronically shy, unable to speak up or socialise without anxiety or those with a paralysing fear of public speaking. This program looks to challenge the thinking and behaviour that contributes to Social Phobia.
Facing Worries Program - This 8 week group program is for adults who are suffering from excessive and chronic worry. The focus of the program is on learning practical and common sense strategies to better manage worry, with participants encouraged to take an active role in their improvement by engaging in practice exercises outside of group sessions.
Blood, Injury and Injection Phobia Program - People who suffer from Blood-Injection-Injury Phobia experience intense fear and discomfort when confronted with situations such as the sight of blood or injuries, receiving injections, and observing or experiencing medical procedures. This fear is commonly also accompanied by a fainting response. The BII Phobia treatment program is tailored to provide adults with effective strategies to manage this fear and reduce the impact that it can have on their lives.
Alcohol & Social Phobia Program - This program is for adults who feel that they have a problem with both Social Phobia and Alcohol consumption. This program is individualised to the client's needs but
aims to address both of these issues together.
Agoraphobia Virtual Reality Program - A program for adult sufferers of panic attacks that includes Agoraphobia, and involves the use of innovative virtual reality technology.
Ageing Wisely Program - This program is for adults 60 and over who suffer from worry and low mood. The group program addresses these two issues and provides skills and strategies for older adults to help them manage these issues.
